Vaillant appoints IPP to install new metal presses

November 2012

As the UK’s number one domestic boiler manufacturer, Vaillant appoints International Power Presses to project manage a complete project for installing their new power presses.

Vaillant recognised that IPP was a unique company having the knowledge, experience and skills to integrate all the different services they required. This project involved decommissioning, removing and achieving maximum values for their old press machines, modifying the foundations and installing two brand new, more sophisticated press machines in their place, being faster and more economical.

Vaillant awarded International Power Presses the contract due to their all-encompassing services and comprehensive approach to the project management and undertaking of the process.

Working to a strict timing plan

IPP achieved maximum values for their surplus presses on the international market and expedited a time critical removal (within 6 weeks). Then, with the cleared site, they were able to carry out extensive modifications and fabrications, working with consultants and giving specialist advice on modifying existing foundations to accommodate the new incoming machines, including the steel flooring.

When the new machines were delivered, IPP provided all the services of heavy lift for the installation of each of the brand new machines onto the modified foundations. The mechanised feed equipment was offloaded, positioned and connected and so were the quick die change tables.

IPP worked efficiently and resourcefully with the German press engineers and Italian feed equipment engineers on the installation of all the new equipment. Subsequently the overhead crane gantries were replaced and positioned by IPP.

Complete project management

Throughout the 6 month contract, IPP provided complete project management and with their proficiency controlled the CDM site, integrating all the intricate services that were needed; they provided sophisticated intellectual advice and further designed and manufactured a variety of additional unique items.

Graham Knowles, Managing Director of International Power Presses, said:

"We were delighted to have worked on such a critical project for this prestigious client and to have maintained the smooth running of their high quality manufacturing process."
